Does the Skeptic Win?

In this short paper, I analyze G. E. Moore’s response to the skeptic—in particular, the dialectical effectiveness of Moore’s use of the Moorean Shift. I argue that Moore’s response is not dialectically inappropriate, and in fact should lead the skeptic to abandon skepticism. Feedback welcome.

  1. One quick comment on fn11: it’s “Jon” (or “Jonathan”, not “John”) Kvanvig.
